RDF Port metrics

Unisphere collects and displays metrics for SRDF ports.

Within the PM metrics section, V4 is used to denote that the metric is supported only by a storage system (array) running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079). V3 is used to denote that the metric is supported only by a storage system (array) running HYPERMAX OS 5977 or PowerMaxOS 5978. Metrics without the denotation are supported by all storage systems (arrays).

The following table lists all metrics that are available for SRDF ports.

Table 1. RDF port metrics
Metric Description
% Busy The percent of time that the port is busy
Avg IO Size Calculated value: (HA Kbytes transferred per sec/total I/O operations per sec)
Bad Receive Char Count Number of bad characters received (an ordered set with improper encoding)
Discarded Frames Count Number of discarded frames (Frames discarded due to corruption, being out-of-order, unexpected delimiter, and so on)
Expired Frames Count Number of expired frames (Frames discarded due to waiting for something)
Host lOs/sec The number of host operations performed each second by the port
Host Throughput The size of the data transfer from the host in MBs per second
Invalid CRC Count Number of invalid CRCs (Frame received with incorrect CRC)
Link Failure Count Number of link failures (There are various causes, but basically cases where the link was up but then something went wrong at the lowest level)
Loss of Signal Count Number of times that the signal is lost (Signal was present but then was lost)
Loss of Sync Count Number of synchronization losses (Signal is present and timing was synced, but then sync was lost)
Max Speed Maximum speed per second
Primitive Sequence Error Count Number of primitive sequence errors (Violation of low-level link management protocol)
Reads/sec Number of read operations performed by the port per second
Received EOFA Count Number of received EOFAs (Frames received with a particular END-OF-FRAME delimiter indicating it should be cancelled/discarded)
Rx Power Receive power (for RDF ports SPF light level) (V4)
Speed Speed per second
Throughput Read The read throughput (MBs) of the port per second
Throughput Written The write throughput (MBs) of the port per second
Tx Power Transmit power (for RDF ports SPF light level) (V4)
Writes/sec The number of write operations performed by the port per second
